Concentrations

Aeronautics Concentration:

Students in the Aeronautics concentration are prepared to work in jobs related to the design, building and testing of aircraft and related systems.  Students in the Aeronautics concentration typically move on to careers with the major aircraft producers including, Boeing, Lockheed Martin and Northrop Grumman.  Our graduates from the Aeronautics concentration take classes which prepare them for work in flight sciences, control, systems engineering, aerodynamics, structures, and propulsion.  Our graduates in Aeronautics also find careers with the launch vehicle and missile manufactures including Raytheon, Pratt & Whitney and launch integrators such as NASA and ULA.

The Astronautics concentration includes courses in low and high speed aerodynamics, flight performance, propulsion systems, aircraft dynamics and control, wind tunnel testing and aircraft design.

Astronautics Concentration:

Students in the Astronautics concentration are prepared to work on complex space-based systems.  The spacecraft industry can be segmented into commercial and defense sectors.  In either case, our graduates from the Astronautics concentration are prepared for careers with the major commercial or defense spacecraft producers, including, SSL, Boeing, Northrop Grumman and Lockheed Martin.  Students in the Astronautics concentration take classes which prepare them for work in spacecraft systems engineering and design, orbital analysis, spacecraft structures and propulsion systems, and spacecraft launch integration and testing.

Students in the Astronautics concentration take courses in orbital mechanics, space environment, space environment laboratory, spacecraft propulsion systems, spacecraft attitude dynamics and control, spacecraft power and communications systems and spacecraft design.
