Dan received his M.S. in Aerospace Engineering from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo. He joined the Cal Poly faculty originally in 2011, and after working on a few other projects away from the university has returned to Cal Poly to teach starting in the 2019-2020 academic year

Dan has 15+ years of aerospace and systems development experience. He has worked on half a dozen space missions in over a decade at NASA JPL. Outside JPL he has worked on additional smaller, more focused systems (space-borne, airborne, and ground-based) with a range of small and medium sized businesses. His teaching experience includes aerospace propulsion and systems systems, with a preference towards a project based teaching.

Dan works to solve technical problems, including how to teach and work with teams towards solutions of technical problems. He extracts lessons – good and bad – from previous endeavors in aerospace and systems to enable focusing on the hard aspects of a problem rather than reinventing the wheel.
