The Class of 1963 & the Class of 2013 established an AERO Department Laboratory Endowment Fund two years ago. This fund can be used to operate, enhance and maintain the department laboratories.

My classmates, the young alumni and I were motivated to give back because we were so well served by our education at Cal Poly. We all know, in addition, how expensive it is to operate and maintain laboratories today, not to mention keep up with technology that changes so rapidly. Cal Poly does not receive funding from the State to maintain labs or upgrade equipment.

Our goal is to raise $100,000 or more in the Aerospace Engineering Lab Endowment, which will generate $4,000 per year to ensure a state-of-the-art department lab environment.

To encourage your support, I will personally match any gift received dollar-for-dollar, up to a total of $10,000. Yes, that means your $10 contribution increases the fund by $20. If everyone would contribute something, we could reach our goal by the end of the 2015-16 academic year.

Remember, the education we all received at Cal Poly was the most important first step in our successful careers.

I hope you agree that it’s time to give something back to the Aerospace Engineering Department. Whether you can contribute $10 or $10,000, let us together yearly support our Aero Department.
